Austinville Christian Reformed Church

“A Place to Belong, Grow and be Strong

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.”  Ephesians 2:19-20

Place:  We believe that God has put us in this church and in this community to serve, worship and glorify Him in a way that enriches our lives and the lives of those around us.  We are called to be the “light of the world.” (Matthew 4:14a)  We strive to do that in the place God has put us: Austinville, Iowa, Christian Reformed Church.

Belong:  We belong to the family of God and to the family of the Austinville Christian Reformed Church.  We strive to function as a family by worshiping together, fellowshipping together, caring for each other, holding each other accountable and getting to know each other on a personal level.  We also belong to the larger ecumenical body of Christ, and we desire to work and serve with the churches of this area.  “So in Christ, we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”  (Romans 12:5)

Grow:  It is our desire to constantly grow in our Christian walk, drawing closer and closer to God and to each other.  We do that by walking daily with Christ and gathering together for worship, study and prayer.  We grow by exploring new ways to glorify God in our lives and in our worship.  We are to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” (II Peter 3:18) It is also our desire to grow by serving the community in His name; and, in love, draw others to Him; bearing with their shortcomings.

Strong:  We hold fast to our Reformed doctrines, creeds and traditions along with the heritage of the Christian Reformed denomination. But most of all, we stand firm on Jesus Christ who is our solid rock and foundation. “For all things were created by Him and for Him.” (Colossians 1:16b)  In Him we know all the joys and pains of the worldwide body of Christ.
